Research : Costume, Hair, & Makeup

Costume is an outfit worn to create the appearance characteristic of a certain period, place, or thing. Hair are the hairs growing on ones head. Makeup are cosmetics used to enhance a characters appearance. The significance of hair, costume, and makeup  in film are that they tell a story of the character. There are five elements to costume hair, and makeup: tone, style, time, place and the characters personality. Tone is the characters attitude towards the plot and characters. Style is the type of way in which the film was made. Time is the period and duration of the clips of the movie. Place refers to where the characters physically are on the map. Characters personality is how they talk and act towards people in situations.

My media teachers had us get into groups of four to conduct a powerpoint. In the powerpoint I worked with Anjuel C, Melanie A,  and Valentina P.  While working on the costume, hair and makeup part of the powerpoint we  listed the five elements of them and there definitions. I also presented the key definition of costume, hair and makeup and their importance to film production. I decorated the powerpoint in the key colors of the movie: red, white, and black.

Conducting this powerpoint made me learn that there are several elements of costume, hair, and makeup and each one are important to understand  in film. I learned each definition of the elements of costume, hair, and makeup and it made me understand film even more and what characters in  films are trying to portray with their physical appearance .  Knowing these elements are vital to understand why the characters have what they have on in film production.
