Preliminary Exercise 6: Digital Camerawork Organizer: Camera Angles
Camera angles marks the location at which the camera is placed to take a shot. The nine camera angles include the following : High angle, overhead level, cowboy/ hip level, knee level, aerial level, eye level, low angle, ground level, dutch level.
The cowboy/hip level angle is when the camera height is about the subject's waist or hip level, it intensifies the moment of pulling out the gun in a duel scene. In this example the angle shows an officer holding his walkie-talkie the cowboy shot shows the walkie-talkie on his hip and him reaching for it signaling that he is going to speak on it. Dutch angle is a camera shot with a tilt on the camera rolls axis it is supposed to make viewers feel uneasy. In this example of the dutch angle, the camera is tilting indicating that the boy is about to fall.
My teacher assigned us in groups to create a powerpoint that includes shot camera angles and its various examples. In this assignment I worked with Melanie A, Valentina P, Anjuel C. I worked inserted the pictures that we took onto the powerpoint. Valentia P designed the slides of the powerpoint. Anjuel C put the information such as the definition, purpose, and action lines. Working on this powerpoint I learned the definition and purposes of camera angles.
