Preliminary Exercise Activity 3: Audience Research

For our opening film we conducted research for what our audience would be for the thriller genre. We learned that audiences who enjoy mystery and anticipation would be interested in our film. We also figured out  our  psychographics and demographics of our audience. Teenagers from 13-19 who love watching thriller movies, who have the public highschool experience, anxious people, and those who love fiction. We used this information to use it in our editing skills that way our audience can be engaged and get a sense of the opening film portraying a real thriller movie.

Preliminary Exercise Activity 3: Marketing Research

For the opening film I made research o how to market our opening film for when we publish it. We will  post flyers and a trailer onto social media apps, Tiktok, instagram, youtube. We will post our marketing onto social media since our target audiences are teenagers and teens have the largest influence on social media and are the demographic who use social media the most on a daily average. With posting our film advertisement onto social media our audience will be targeted that way we get a higher box office, and more viewers. Another way for marketing a  thriller movie which includes social media, is to have the actors in the film market the movie as well. The actors are teenagers just like the target audience is so the teens watching the teens of the film tell them how thrilling, scary, and entertaining the upcoming movie is that will have them interested and want to watch the movie when it is available as soon as possible.

Research Exercise Activity 3:Setting

Image
Setting is the time or place that a narrative happens. Setting is vital in film because it expresses where and when the movie is taking place, the mood of the movie, and the genre. Setting itself contains eight elements: place, time period, time of day, cultural values, socio-economic status, mood of the scene, message in the scene, and the genre of the film. Place refers to the time or place the narrative occurs.  Time period is the year the film takes place. Time of day is the period of time in which the setting takes places.
